Two Rivers Kids
At Two Rivers, we want to do everything we can for kids and their families who join us. Our primary goal as a church is to equip every parent to disciple their kids. At the same time we desire to faithfully present the truths of Scripture and the gospel to kids with the opportunities we have. Rachel Hardesty serves as our Children’s Ministry Director and oversees our volunteers, content, and activities for the kids at Two Rivers.
When do kids meet?
Every week we provide a kids lesson and activity time during the sermon. There is a nursery available downstairs any time for nursing mothers, but kids are invited to join the congregation for singing in worship. Kids are welcome to head downstairs with our children’s ministry volunteers immediately preceding the sermon.
This Fall we’ll be starting up a kids Sunday School class starting at 9am. Class will conclude around 9:45 with our adult Institute class.
Curriculum
Our curriculum is intended to expose each child to the truth of the gospel in the whole of Scripture. We use Lifeway’s Gospel Project and are currently working through the Exodus narrative with our kids. Both Sunday School and our lesson time during the service use the Gospel Project material though with different content.
Sample Lesson Time
Bible Story
Our kids time always begins with a story from the Bible that communicates basic gospel truths.
Key Verse
Our story is followed by memorization of a key verse. Each key verse is put to music to assist with memorization.
Activity
We try to keep things fun. Each lesson is accompanied by a craft of some kind that gives kids something to take home as a reminder of that day’s lesson.
Age groups?
All children from toddlers to 3rd grade are welcome to join our gospel project lesson during the sermon. Of course, kids of all ages are welcome to sit in on the sermon.
When our kids Sunday School class starts in the fall, we’ll welcome kids from toddlers to 6th grade for Sunday School.
Security
We take very seriously the responsibility to keep all the kids safe while they’re with us at Two Rivers. All of our children’s ministry volunteers have underwent background checks before serving in children’s ministry. We also have detailed policies and procedures that help keep everyone safe. If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to ask!
